Privacy Policy

Effective: October 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how EditorAI Pro (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use ScholarFeed+ (the “App”), including our website at myscholarfeed.com and our mobile apps on iOS and Android. By using ScholarFeed+, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Account Information

When you create an account or sign in, we collect:

  • Email address, display name, and profile photo (when you sign up directly, or via Google Sign-In)
  • If you use Sign in with Apple, the name and email address Apple shares with us. If you choose to hide your email, this is a private relay address that forwards to you
  • Phone number, if you choose to sign in or verify your account by SMS (we send a one-time passcode to verify it)
  • A profile picture you choose to upload, taken with your camera or selected from your photo library

b. Content & Usage Data

To provide the core research-feed experience, we collect:

  • Articles, authors, and topics you follow, save, bookmark, or add to playlists
  • Playlists you create, including whether they are shared publicly or kept private
  • Search queries, comments, likes, and other in-app interactions
  • Reports you submit about comments or messages, and the users you block, so we can review reports and hide blocked users’ comments and messages from you
  • General app usage and interaction data (e.g., screens viewed, features used) to improve the App

c. Recap Chat & Voice Input

If you use voice search or voice commands, the App accesses your device’s microphone to capture audio, which is converted to text using speech-recognition services in order to fulfill your request. We do not retain the recorded audio after it has been transcribed.

Recap Chat lets you ask questions about your research feed, by typing or by voice. Typed questions, and the personalized reading activity used to answer them, are sent to OpenAI to generate a response. Recap Voice, the spoken version of this feature, keeps the microphone open for the length of the conversation: depending on the voice engine in use, your audio is either sent to our servers for transcription and spoken responses, or streamed directly to OpenAI’s Realtime API over a secure, short-lived connection so you can talk with the assistant in real time. Spoken replies are synthesized using Replicate’s hosted text-to-speech models. In all cases, audio itself is not retained once it has been processed, but the transcribed questions and the assistant’s answers are stored as part of your recap chat history so the conversation can continue with context across turns.

The first time you use Recap Chat, by typing or by voice, the App asks for your permission to share your questions and, for voice, your audio with these AI providers. If you do not agree, nothing is sent, and you can keep using the rest of the App.

d. Camera & Photo Library

The App requests access to your camera and photo library so you can take or choose a profile photo and playlist cover images. We only access these when you choose to add a photo, and only the image you select is uploaded and stored (hosted on our behalf by Amazon Web Services, see Section 3) — the App does not otherwise browse or collect the contents of your photo library.

e. Device & Diagnostic Data

We automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • Device model, operating system, and app version
  • IP address and general (non-precise) location inferred from it
  • Crash reports and error logs, to help us diagnose and fix issues
  • Advertising and analytics identifiers (see Section 3)

f. Push Notification Data

If you enable notifications, we collect a device push token so we can deliver updates about new research, replies, and other activity relevant to you.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you
  • To personalize your research feed and recommendations
  • To enable social and collaboration features such as playlists, comments, and follows

  • To display advertising and measure its effectiveness
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

The App also displays research content (titles, abstracts, and metadata) sourced from public and third-party academic databases. Retrieving this content does not involve sharing your personal information with those sources.

4. Advertising

ScholarFeed+ shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your advertising identifier and general usage data to select and measure ads.

On iOS, we ask for your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before using your data for personalized advertising. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other regions where it is required, we also ask for your choices through Google’s consent message, and we only request personalized ads if you allow them. We ask AdMob to limit ads to content suitable for a general audience, though we cannot guarantee that every ad is appropriate.

You can change these choices at any time in your device’s privacy settings (on iOS, Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking; on Android, Settings > Privacy > Ads).

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

  • With the third-party service providers listed above, to operate the App
  • With other users, to the extent you make content public (e.g., a public playlist, comment, or profile)
  • If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account record and personal content, and anonymize your identity on content that remains (e.g., comments, shared conversations) within a reasonable period. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the connection between your Apple account and ScholarFeed+ when you delete your account.

We retain a limited set of records after deletion for legal, security, and anti-abuse purposes: reports you filed or that were filed against you (fraud/abuse compliance), an audit record of verification emails sent to your account, and an anonymous record that an account was deleted (containing no identifying information). These records are not used for any other purpose.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • You can review and update your profile information from within the App
  • You can delete individual content (playlists, comments, saved items) at any time

  • You can disable push notifications from your device settings
  • You can disconnect Google Sign-In from your account settings, and stop sharing with Sign in with Apple in your Apple ID settings

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under GDPR or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights over your personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children's Privacy

ScholarFeed+ is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
